Despite calling people’s attention at least once a year and being on the front page of local and national newspapers, the protagonists Los Tiburones del Paraná and their experience is much more than this exceptional story.

In June 1997, the implementation of a government plan to promote swimming for kids with disabilities in Arroyo Seco —a plan originally meant for students of Escuela Especial Ceferino Namuncurá — planted the original seed for the project, led by a young swimming teacher, Patricio Huerga. Currently, together with Escuela de Natación Integral Arroyo Seco, the group Los Tiburones gather 153 swimmers with disabilities and 194 swimmers without disabilities in their regular trainings.
